From 1 June, Lithuania will no longer recognize non-biometric passports issued by Russia Added 2025-05-23 On 23 May, a joint order by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Internal Affairs decided to no longer recognize non-biometric passports issued by the Russian Federation (RF) as valid travel documents for entering Lithuanian territory. This order does not apply to RF citizens travelling in transit by rail through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania from Kaliningrad to the RF territory and in reverse.

Added 2025-05-20 Today, on 20 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, participates in the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union in Brussels. The EU Foreign Ministers will discuss Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, military support and long-term security guarantees for Ukraine, tightening sanctions against Russia, and the use of frozen Russian assets.
Added 2025-05-20 Today, on 20 May, the Council of the European Union adopted the 17th package of sanctions against Russia. Targeted restrictive measures were imposed against further 17 persons and 58 entities responsible for actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
Added 2025-05-19 The Government of Lithuania today, on 19 May, filed a case against Belarus at the International Court of Justice seeking the accountability of the Belarusian regime for organizing large-scale smuggling of migrants into Lithuania. The case concerns violations of states’ obligations under the United Nations Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air (hereafter - ‘the Protocol’).
Added 2025-05-18 The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, is on a working visit to the Czech Republic. On Monday, 19 May,  in Prague, the Minister met with the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavský.
Added 2025-05-17 On 17 May in Tallinn, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, participated in the Lennart Meri conference and called for decisive and coordinated action to boost security in the Baltic Sea.
Added 2025-05-16 On 16 May in Estonia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, is participating in the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS). Together with the Ministers of nine other countries of the region, Budrys discussed sanctions against the Russian shadow fleet and signed a joint memorandum to strengthen the resilience of critical undersea infrastructure in the Baltic Sea at the governmental level.
Added 2025-05-16 At an informal meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Türkiye on 15 May, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, said he wanted the agreement established at previous summits that Ukraine was on the irreversible path to joining NATO reconfirmed in The Hague.
Added 2025-05-15 Today, on 15 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, is attending an informal meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Türkiye. The Ministers will discuss current Euro-Atlantic security issues, the need to rapidly increase allied defence investments, and ensure the necessary defence capabilities.
